I am a self-taught artist with a professional background in Computer Science. Over the past 20+ years I have been experimenting with various mediums, such as oil pastels, oils, acrylics, ink pen and photography.
My art work is very often inspired by music, moods and thoughts and I feel most comfortable when I am just driven by shapes and colours with initial disregard to a specific topic or subject. I find each painting or drawing session more like an experiment, where what is on canvas or paper keeps changing, without much idea of what I intend to achieve. And then, at some point, something ‘clicks’ and I can see it all coming together! That can sometimes happen just minutes before finishing it 🙂
Here are two of my latest drawings being ‘born’ (click on an image to open a Twitter post with an animated GIF):
After moving to Greenwich I decided to rent a studio in Woolwich, at Thames-side Studios (fka Second Floor Studios). Having that space allowed me to create more oil paintings as well as become part of a large community of artists and makers. Also, after my recent visits to Portugal, in 2016, I felt inspired by the filigree style of their jewelry and my ink pen drawings became much more intricate than before and they considerably grew in number 🙂
Recently, I started exhibiting some of my works, first as part of the Open Studio Days in 2015, 2016 and 2017, then as part of the Drawing Open event at Second Floor and, most recently, as part of a personal solo exhibition at artFix in Woolwich.
Over the past year I have experimenting with having some of my drawings printed on high-quality t-shirts. As part of this process, I tested various designs and printing companies and I now feel confident enough to sell some of them to other people 🙂 Some of these t-shirts are now available for sale in the Greenwich Market via the Corkville shop. A much larger collection is available for ordering via the DaPa Art shop powered by Spreadshirt.
